Growing up in a family that moved often, including moving overseas for a few years, Heather came to value the importance of real estate and the feeling of coming home. Somehow her family always ended up back in the Mid-Atlantic region. She spent many weekends with her family appreciating the pursuit of an open house and listening to their perspective on the perfect floor plan. As a young adult she and her fiancé were told by family members that they should get used to renting because that is all they would ever be able to afford on nonprofit incomes. This challenged them to save religiously and work harder to make the dream of home ownership a reality. Heather and her husband moved into their brand-new house in Berkeley County, WV shortly after their honeymoon! For 15 years they worked on DIY projects and updates. They love raising their two children with plenty of space and proximity to numerous hikes and historical locations. More recently they custom built our own home but chose to keep their roots here in Berkeley County.

With a degree in Psychology from Eastern Mennonite University, Heather worked in several non-profit settings. Her goal was to build an orphanage and give as many children as possible a better life. While the orphanage never came to fruition, she utilized this passion to find other ways to contribute to helping children in jobs such as case manager, gymnastics teacher, volleyball coach, and an aide for students with Autism.  For many years she was blessed to be a stay-at-home mother and decided to homeschool her daughter through high school and son through middle school. She has worked for Berkeley County Schools for the past ten years as a substitute teacher. This opportunity to provide educational instruction and prove her reliability has given her more confidence to expand her options and pursue real estate as a career. She has always enjoyed meeting new people and developing new skills. For many years she has owned a cleaning company and lawn company and has been fortunate to have the energy to provide care for many customers. This has given her practical experience and a background in running her own business. She’s not afraid of difficult tasks and thrives when given a problem to solve. You can count on her to be responsive and trustworthy. It is very satisfying to be able to help explain real estate processes and ultimately help individuals purchase their own home or negotiate for the best possible transaction.

She has been part of a very active family. She loves to compete in a variety of sports including volleyball, softball, swimming, and tennis. Her extended family enjoys ultimate frisbee matches and football games in her backyard. When given some free time you will most likely find her outside!
