Hamilton

Keeping it small by choice, the town of Hamilton has less than 700 citizens. The town is rich in history – Hamilton was once occupied by several Native American tribes. By 1868, a steam railroad had come from Alexandria to Hamilton along the future route of the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad. European settlers arrived in the 1730s.

Hamilton is located 6 miles west of Leesburg, near the western base of the Catoctin Mountain and about 50 miles from D.C. Easy access to Route 7 makes traveling in the area effortless.

The town is narrow — about a mile long and a block or so wide on both sides of Colonial Highway. It’s a small community with a taste of the country, but it’s minutes away from it all. The community is proud of its rural footprint and is intent on keeping it that way. The residents are friendly and welcoming, exhibiting the true meaning of community.
